Our volunteer spotlight this week shines on Hope Arnold. Hope has recently joined the 15202 community.

I bought my house here in Bellevue on Christmas Eve 2020, but I moved to Pittsburgh area 3 years ago. Before I lived here, I lived in North Jersey where I commuted to NYC for work. I am an event planner and marketing communications manager for a scientific equipment company.

I’m still relatively new to the area but I love being able to go to sporting events — I won a Steelers fan award for taking my Terrible Towel to Antarctica. I also enjoy hiking, museums, and going out to eat without spending hours on trains, buses, or in traffic.

In 2020, I was looking to buy a house in Bellevue and decided to look for a place to volunteer so I could get involved in the community while I looked. I started with the Feeding Neighbors Program and then transitioned to volunteering at the Farmers Market. I’m excited to see all the volunteers, customers, and vendors from last year and meeting those that are new to the market. I’m also really looking forward to the food trucks at the market each week! I love to bake so I’ve made a lot of pies, cobblers, and sauces from Sturgis’ apples and peaches.

I have loved becoming a part of this vibrant community and look forward to many more years volunteering at the market and other projects in the North Boroughs.
