Today we speak with a new vendor at the market for 2021 – Katy Lynn Pottery.

I am a Pittsburgh native, based in Southside where I get to enjoy sunsets from the slopes, the sights on Carson, and the occasional paddle on the Monongahela when there’s time for SUPing! I currently work from my home studio and at Pittsburgh Center for the Arts & Media, where I fire all of my ceramic works.

I am an Art Educator who turned into a full-time artist this year! I’ve spent the last few years teaching overseas in Yangon, Myanmar, and my time in Southeast Asia has inspired my work immensely. I’m obsessed with any and all bodies of water and dream of living on a houseboat!

The lush tropical plants, gorgeous ornate buildings, and daily sights and sounds are all represented in my porcelain forms and carvings. I focus my energy on creating planters, oil lamps, and earrings because these simple, elegant additions to life bring such joy, and joy is the driving factor behind Katy Lynn Pottery!

I currently work independently, but I have the wonderful clay community at Pittsburgh Center for the Arts & Media to bounce ideas off and get feedback about work progress! I create handcrafted porcelain ceramic earrings, hanging planters, and citronella oil lamps. All of my pieces are wheel-thrown, altered, carved, and fired by me! For example, my earrings are created with slabs of clay, carved with designs, and fired with gold to give them that extra touch of elegance.

This is my first year being involved with the Bellevue Farmers Market, and I’m so excited to be here! My favorite thing about the Bellevue Farmers Market is how much you support your vendors and the local community.

I currently do not sell products online, but will as soon as my inventory allows! When I do, check out katylynnpottery.com.
