Today’s volunteer spotlight is on Lish Templeton.

My husband Doug and I bought our first house in the magical borough of Bellevue in 2019 and have been enchanted ever since by a spirit of community and the forward momentum to bring the neighborhood to its fullest vibrancy.

The pandemic really inspired me to volunteer—we were so vigilant about distancing pre-vaccination, I missed community gatherings like the farmer’s market so much.  Post-vaccination, I couldn’t wait to volunteer and give back.  I feel safe doing so because health protocols are in place for volunteers—to either mask or show proof of vaccination!

Each year at the farmer’s market, I love to chat with the vendors about their products and process—how to grow the perfect apple or roast the best coffee beans.  They are extraordinary, hardworking entrepreneurs who deserve our business.

Cooking is not my calling, but there is nothing better than this easy Sheet Pan Tofu using Uncle Jammy’s Sauces on some sourdough from Breadworks. Your heart will thank you!  https://www.thekitchn.com/sheet-pan-bbq-tofu-recipe-256176

In the 9-to-5, I am a fundraising professional for a youth-serving nonprofit (that is famous for its cookies, camping, and gender-equity-building leadership program!)

I have visited some amazing countries–Nepal, Vietnam, Hungary, Turkey, and more—but never the west coast of the US!  It is definitely on my bucket list so please tell me your travel tips and must-visit spots.

Thank you to my Bellevue neighbors for welcoming us—we hope to pay it forward to newcomers to make this an inclusive and safe neighborhood for all.

My greatest hope is to use my time on earth to get into “good trouble’ and make the world a better place for all.
