Today we meet Robert Deithorn of Machacha Foods.

Machacha Foods is currently a home-based business based in Moon Twp. For now, it is just my wife and myself. However, if we continue to have success, we will look at expanding the business. I like to say that my wife is executive chef and marketing director, and I am the sales guy representing the business at the market.

We currently prepare and sell two types of salsas – a mild, cilantro salsa that is made with cilantro, a mild green chili pepper, garlic, olive oil, lime juice, ginger, and salt; and a spicier macha salsa, which is made from a blend of spicy brown chili peppers, olive oil, garlic, salt, sesame seeds, and peanuts. These are wonderful, blended salsas from my wife’s family recipes. We are considering new salsa types made with fruits such as mango. We grow some of the ingredients used in the salsas with our own home garden.

We just started with the Bellevue Market this summer, beginning in August. But we’ve been very happy. It is very well organized and promoted and has very good attendance.
