Today we are highlighting Machacha Foods, a gourmet salsa vendor. We spoke with Robert Deithorn.

Machacha Foods is currently a home-based business based in Moon Township. For now, our team is just my wife and me. I like to say that my wife is the executive chef and marketing director, and I am the sales guy representing the business at the market. However, in the future, we may look at expanding the business.

We prepare and sell two types of salsas – mild cilantro salsa and spicier macha salsa. These are wonderful, blended salsas from my wife’s family recipes and prepared with a handful of ingredients from our home garden. Our mild cilantro salsa is made with cilantro, a mild green chili pepper, garlic, olive oil, lime juice, ginger, and salt. The spicier macha salsa is a blend of spicy brown chili peppers, olive oil, garlic, salt, sesame seeds, and peanuts. We are considering new salsa types made with fruits such as mango.

This year is our second with the Bellevue Market, and we have been happy with the crowd and market. It is very well organized and promoted and has very good attendance.
